CAPE TOWN - Alleged underworld gang boss Nafiz Modack has again denied instructing co-accused Zane Kilian to track the whereabouts of slain top cop Charl Kinnear on the day of his murder.

Modack, Kilian and 13 others face 122 charges for various crimes including the murder of Kinnear.

Kilian was questioned by Modack's attorney on Wednesday about Modack's alleged involvement in Kinnear's murder.

Nafiz Modack has again turned his back on co-accused Zane Kilian saying he had nothing to do with the murder of Kinnear.

Kilian previously told the court he was in contact with Modack on the day of Kinnear's murder and received instructions to contact attorney Eric Bryer.

Modack insists he asked Kilian to ping Kinnear and alleged underworld kingpin Jerome "Donkie" Booysen because he wanted to show they were colluding and he believed they wanted him dead.

Modack denied being in contact with Kilian on the day Kinnear was murdered, saying Kilian manufactured the story because he was desperate for bail.

The trial continues on Monday.
