JOHANNESBURG - Some political parties believe the Government of National Unity (GNU) should focus on fixing state-owned enterprises (SOEs) to improve its chances of growing the economy.
Outlining its expectations for the president's State of the Nation Address (SONA), taking place on Thursday, Build One South Africa (BOSA) highlighted institutions such as the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) as crucial to economic growth.

Party leader, Mmusi Maimane, emphasised that government's approach to economic recovery should include infrastructure development and the revival of SOEs.
"If this year, 2025, is going to be anything, it is going to be a year where economic recovery must take centre stage. I make the case that it must be led by infrastructure development which prioritises transport for this country. Fixing networks like PRASA and national logistics is essential to stimulate trade investment."
