JOHANNESBURG - One person has been killed in a cash-in-transit robbery that took place on the N2 highway in Durban.
The cash-in-transit van was found lying on its roof near the NPC Cement factory, just after Higginson Highway on Tuesday morning.
Eyewitnesses say a group of men assaulted two security guards and robbed them of their guns before making off with an undisclosed amount of money.
Garreth Jamieson spokesperson for ALS Paramedics says there were multiple causalities at the scene when they arrived.
"On the actual scene, paramedics treated three security officers for various injuries and were stabilised on scene. On the same scene, approximately 500 metres from the incident, three occupants in a bus travelling to work had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The next location of the scene was on the Higginson Highway where two people had sustained gunshot wounds."
