JOHANNESBURG - Motorists will have to dig deeper into their pockets to fill up their tanks from Wednesday.
The Energy Department has announced increases for both grades of petrol by 82 cents a litre.
Diesel will also increase by between R1.01 cents and R1.05 cents a litre
This is the second fuel price increase since the start of the year.
Departmental spokesperson, Robert Maake, said the increases were due to higher oil prices and the weaker rand against the US dollar.
"Illuminating paraffin will increase by R1.29 cents per litre. Meanwhile, LP gas will go up by 42 cents per kilogram. The shipping cost for LP gas was higher on average during the period under review. However, the slate levy remains unchanged at zero cents per litre in the price structures for both petrol and diesel."
