CAPE TOWN - State prosecutors are set to question co-accused Zane Kilian on Tuesday about his alleged involvement in the murder of top cop, Charl Kinnear.

Alleged underworld gang boss, Nafiz Modack, and his 14 co-accused face 122 charges for various crimes, including the murder of Kinnear.

Kinnear, who was investigating Modack at the time was shot dead outside his Bishop Lavis home in September 2020.

Evidence shows Kilian pinged Kinnear more than 2,000 times before his murder.

Kilian said Modack asked him to ping Kinnear, along with major-generals Jeremy Vearey and Andre Lincoln because he feared they wanted to kill him.

He told the court that Modack wanted to know their whereabouts so he could avoid them in case they had planned to take him out.

Kilian insists he only pinged on instruction from Modack and didn't ask any questions about the names on the list he was given.

The State is expected to wrap up its cross-examination of Kilian on Tuesday.
