JOHANNESBURG - The Limpopo Education Department will make use of mobile classrooms to fast-track its admission process to accommodate pupils who could not find placement due to classroom shortages.

The department has indicated that it's made significant progress in placing pupils in schools in Polokwane, with the number of unplaced pupils decreasing from 816 to 246.

Although the admission deadline was set for last Wednesday, Limpopo Education Department spokesperson Matome Taueatsoala said the process was still ongoing.

He said the department would continue to verify late applications, pupils who were rejected, and new applicants who recently relocated to the city.

"The delivery of mobiles, which commenced on Friday last week, will alleviate the number of frustrated applicants who have been patiently waiting for placements. The department is adamant that all qualifying learners will be placed in due course."
