JOHANNESBURG - The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Johannesburg wants all city officials to undergo immediate lifestyle audits.
This is after the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) uncovered irregular procurement processes in the city.
SIU CEO Andy Mothibi recently told Parliament that investigations revealed collusion between the city's supply management officials and service providers, raising concern that some contracts may have been awarded improperly.
The DA's regional leader, Belinda Kayser-Echeozonjoku, said the city cannot allow supply chain officials to continue undermining procurement laws.
“This must be followed by reporting those found to be complicit in illegal activity to professional bodies, and most importantly, opening criminal cases with the South African Police Service (SAPS) against them,” she said.
