EWN asked citizens what they would like the president to address in his speech on Thursday evening.
"I don't expect anything to change because they haven't changed much since the last SONA where we spoke, I just want load shedding to go away because load shedding came back now at the time of SONA. I just want them to work on the infrastructure within the government. I don't want them to change road names, don't put robots up, rather sort out internal affairs compared to external affairs," one resident said.
"No more load shedding, that's not what I voted for. It's just unacceptable. After the last election it was load shedding is gone, yesterday my lights were off, every time I hit a pothole I just question why, meanwhile I've never seen a thin government member, they're eating very well," another resident said.
"I feel like it's all going to go back to load shedding and Eskom. My current life, that will affect us the most so that’s what I hope they address," a third resident added.
