CAPE TOWN - Alleged underworld gang boss Nafiz Modack's co-accused Zane Kilian says Modack gave him an apparent 'Hitlist' which included his alleged underworld rival Jerome 'Donkie' Booysen.

Modack and 14 co-accused face 122 charges for various crimes related to operating a criminal enterprise.

Kilian is being cross-examined to account for allegedly pinging various targets on Modack's behalf.

State prosecutor Greg Wolmarans questioned Kilian about why he was pinging criminal defence attorneys William Booth and Jerome Booysen during the same period in March and April 2020.

Evidence shows Kilian started pinging Booth on the sixth of March 2020 — the same day he started pinging Booysen.

Booth later survived an attempt on his life at his Higgovale home on the ninth of April that year.

Kilian told the court that Modack asked him to ping Booth for a debt collection on behalf of a client.

He said Modack told him to track the whereabouts of Booysen because he believed Booysen wanted him dead and he wanted to avoid him.

The trial continues.
