JOHANNESBURG - The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) says it's paying special attention to KwaZulu-Natal in a bid to cover lost electoral ground in the province.

The party held a media briefing on Monday to announce the deployments of its senior members across the country.

The party has deployed twelve of its commissars to KZN, which is the largest contingent from the nine provinces.

In the last general elections, the eff only got 2% of the vote share in KwaZulu-Natal.

This was a decline from 10% in the previous polls.

EFF leader Julius Malema says the party is taking seriously its poor performance in KZN.

“We want to turn things around and we think the people we have sent there are ready for that task and we think they can change the political sphere. All you need in KZN is political willingness to work hard for the eff and it will turn around.”

Former EFFdeputy president Floyd Shivambu was previously deployed to KZN. Shivambu has since joined the Umkhonto Wesizwe Party.

The EFF has deployed Poppy Mailola to lead its team in KZN as a convenor.
