JOHANNESBURG – It’s back to square one for the Tikiso family in Soweto’s Pennyville.

The family has been waiting for the outcome of the results of a DNA test of their late brother since early December.

In December 2024, Reitumetse Tikiso’s family found his burnt car under a bridge between Rosettenville and City Deep with a dead body in the boot.

Mathota, Reitumetse’s sister, said there had been delays in getting results from forensics since police submitted samples to the pathology clinic.

Samples that were found in Reitumetse’s burnt car were only submitted almost a month later.

It is understood that police had to resubmit new samples this week because the last ones did not have enough DNA to identify the body.

Mathota complained that they had been put through too much as a family.

"Honestly speaking, I feel like the police station and the police are failing us as a family because of how they have been handling this case from the beginning. It is failing us and I do not know how to go about this."

Police said they were still waiting for the pathology results.
