Lebeya: Hawks making progress on recommendations made by state capture commission

JOHANNESBURG - Cases related to state capture and the COVID-19 relief fund continue to take preference among the Hawks.
More than 100 cases related to state capture and the COVID-19 relief fund are currently being investigated by the Hawks, with some convictions already secured.
This was revealed by Hawks head, Godfrey Lebeya, during the release of their third quarterly stats in Pretoria earlier.

Lebeya said they were making progress on recommendations made by the state capture commission.
"Thirty-eight persons, 30 natural and 8 juristic persons have been arrested by the Hawks and are before the various courts."
He said they had also made headway into investigations related to the COVID-19 relief fund.
"As of 31 December 2024, 305 cases were registered and 162 accused persons were charged. We have already registered 21 convictions and five acquittals."
Lebeya addressed the media in Pretoria on Friday afternoon.
It will be one of his last addresses as head of the Hawks, as his term comes to an end in May.
