CAPE TOWN - The Good Party has welcomed the finalisation of the provinical administration's probe into the deadly George building collapse.
The Western Cape government appointed an independent structural engineering firm to investigate what caused a five-storey building to cave in, killing 34 people.
Premier Alan Winde on Thursday handed over the firm's report to senior police officials.
Winde said he hopes the findings can help the SAPS in their own probe into the disaster.
Good's George councillor, Chantelle Kyd: "It has been almost nine months since the tragedy took 34 lives and seriously injured many others. The painful loss of loved ones in such a horrific accident is something that no person should have to endure. This report is needed to not only hold those responsible accountable but also to prevent further incidents of this nature from occurring."
