CoJ invites SAMWU members to roundtable discussion to resolve issues

JOHANNESBURG - The City of Johannesburg has invited the members of the South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) to a roundtable discussion to resolve the issues that resulted in their demonstration on Thursday.
The municipal workers downed tools on Thursday in an attempt to disrupt the city's first council meeting.

They were calling for the removal of Helen Botes as the city's acting chief operating officer (COO).
"Going on the street might not assist the process. So, our plea is, heed the call, come to the formal engagement with the city's executives so that all the issues can be resolved," said City spokesperson, Nthatisi Modingoane.
