CAPE TOWN - The Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) has described its festive season operations as a success.
Visitor numbers, fires and crime incidents have painted an encouraging picture.
The park welcomed a record number of visitors.
Entries across the park and picnic sites topped 232,420 in December 2024, compared to 213,160 in 2023.
Park manager Megan Taplin said they've also seen a slight decrease in crime from 64 reported incidents in 2023 to 60 in 2024.
"For example, in December 2023 we had a targeted operation where we arrested someone on Lion's Head/Signal Hill area that had been responsible for a lot of incidents. Incidents dropped down from 36 in November 2023 to 6 in December because of that one arrest."
