JOHANNESBURG - Some prospective University of Venda students are unable to register for courses despite receiving confirmation that they were accepted for specific classes.

It is understood that multiple courses at the institution are full and cannot accommodate more students.

One of the students who spoke to Eyewitness News said she received an offer letter from the higher learning institution confirming her spot for the Bachelor of Commerce course.

However, she said that she was unable to register for the course.

Nyeleti Baloyi travelled from Gauteng to Venda earlier in January to start her degree in BCom Economics at the university.

She said after paying a R5,000 registration fee, she was told that the course she had chosen was full and that she should apply for another course.

“When I called one of the staff during the week last week, they told me that my course is full. Then I asked him how is my course full when I've been coming from last week Wednesday till Tuesday and there's nothing happening. And I was like, the course is full and there's nothing I can do.”

She said none of the other available courses were open for registration yet.

Eyewitness News has reached out to the university for comment. We are yet to receive a response.
