CAPE TOWN - The Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) said there were more people using the cable car and visiting the park this festive season than the previous season.
The TMNP said it saw a 10% increase in the number of people visiting the park in December.
According to statistics, more than 232,000 people visited the park, compared to 213,000 in December 2023.
The park's manager, Megan Taplin, said that their figures also revealed a 19.4% increase in the number of people who used the cable car in December.
"This is obviously only visitors we record through our gates. So, it's the Cape Point gate, the Boulders gate, and then we have the various picnic sites like Silvermine, Tokai and those kinds of places. Obviously, there’s a lot more visitors to the park because most of the park is open access, so we are not counting all the many people that walk up Lion's Head, Newlands Forest, and anywhere like that."
