CAPE TOWN - The Motor Industry Staff Association (MISA) is calling on the police ministry to immediately appoint a special task team to hunt those responsible for attacks at PUTCO bus depots in Mpumalanga.
A group of people stormed depots in the Nkangala District on Monday night and 51 buses were torched.
A security guard was shot and wounded while two employees were assaulted.
Two suspects were arrested on Tuesday night and police said that investigations were ongoing.
The bus operator has blamed ongoing tensions with the taxi industry, adding that its operations were often disrupted by taxi associations.
The Motor Industry Staff Association's Sonja Carstens: "There is something sinister about these attacks. We need to get behind this and see who is the criminal syndicate running these attacks."
