CAPE TOWN - While water levels in the Western Cape's storage dams remain stable, the Department of Water and Sanitation said there had been a slight drop.
The minor decline is consistent with extremely hot weather conditions across the province, leading to high water usage.
The Western Cape water supply system stands at 81.34%, compared to 83.20% last week.
The Theewaterskloof Dam, which is the largest in the province and responsible for more than 50% of the region's water supply, is 81.56% full.
In 2018, that dam's level was dangerously low at just 13.98%.
The department's Wisane Mavasa: "While the storage levels in river catchments are stable at above 75% during this time of the year, it does not automatically translate to an abundance of water. Users are urged to continue using water sparingly until the next rainy season."
