JOHANNESBURG - The Democratic Alliance (DA) says it is looking for the best of the best to represent it in municipal councils.

The party has already begun the process of identifying councillor and mayoral candidates for next year’s local government elections.

The DA held a media briefing in Johannesburg on Tuesday where it announced applications for its councillor candidates will open on 1 February.

DA Federal Council chairperson, Helen Zille said the process is not limited to party members only.

“Then on the 1st of March, we will be opening applications for mayoral candidates in our metros. Obviously, our metros are going to be ground zero in this election, especially Gauteng. We are on the search for the brightest, the best and the most capable from inside the DA’s ranks and from outside the DA’s ranks because we don’t close the door to talented people from outside, we look actively for talented people.”
