They were apprehended just hours after the lifeless bodies of the victims were discovered with multiple hack wounds, one of which had an arm severed.
It is understood that the suspects are members of a community safety forum operating in the area.
Their arrest has sparked protests from community members in the Mombayi area of Inanda.
Some residents allege that the victims had been terrorising their communities for some time.
Meanwhile, others are calling for the release of the accused, citing safety concerns and arguing that their communities remain unsafe for law-abiding citizens while the group is behind bars.
