CAPE TOWN - Two siblings accused of fraudulently taking out funeral insurance on Cape Town "Noem My Skollie" actor David Manuel are back at the Athlone Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning.

Wanda and Sindiswa Mbele are charged with money laundering relating to funeral policies worth R110,000.

The pair claim to be cousins of the actor affectionately known as "Gums".

Manuel and his friend, Alonso Fisher, were shot and killed outside Manuel's Gugulethu home in October last year.

The State believes it has a strong case against Wanda and Sindiswa Mbele, who are currently out on R800 bail.

New evidence, in the form of WhatsApp messages and voice notes between the pair, has been submitted by the prosecution.

The State says these chats show that the siblings knew about the deceased's death four days before he was killed and says the conversations further revealed that the accused had knowledge that David and his brother, Patrick Manuel, were going to be killed soon.

Prosecutors believes the WhatsApp exchange also confirms Wanda Mbele had both policies amended for a larger payout.
