Traditional healers gather outside court in support of Gogo Maweni

JOHANNESBURG - Traditional healers have gathered outside the Protea Magistrates Court in support of popular sangoma Makgotso ‘Gogo Maweni’ Mofokeng.
Maweni is appearing in court on Monday, where she intends to apply for bail.
She faces a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm dating to 2019.

Some traditional healers have begun to gather outside the Protea Magistrate's Court in Soweto.
The group dressed in black with red "amabhayi" are there in support of Maweni.
Maweni spent the week in custody after her first appearance on Monday, where the presiding officer, Rozelle Khiye, postponed the matter.
Khiye granted the State a week to verify whether Maweni had a previous conviction or not.
Maweni is also allegedly being investigated for five murder charges dating between 2020-2024.
