CAPE TOWN - Democratic Alliance (DA) leader John Steenhuisen said President Cyril Ramaphosa would not have been president if it were not for his party’s votes.
Steenhuisen was addressing the media in Cape Town on Saturday on the party's plans to dispute the constitutionality of the Expropriation Act.

The party leader also expressed the DA's intent to prevent the implementation of the National Health Insurance (NHI).
Steenhuisen has accused Ramaphosa of undermining the Government of National Unity (GNU)'s resolutions with his recent actions.
He stated that the DA did not join the GNU to support the African National Congress (ANC)'s National Democratic Revolution (NDR) policies, which he claimed have led South Africa into difficulties.
Steenhuisen said Ramaphosa ignored his letter requesting engagement on GNU matters before proceeding with the enactment of the NHI.
"You don't have 50% for the votes, which means you cannot get everything that you want. At the same time, however, at various conferences, we have made it abundantly clear that we were in government in this GNU to share power, not to merely make up the numbers."
Steenhuisen added that the ANC cannot continue to implement its policies at the expense of the DA's sacrifice.
