DA's Mcpherson hits back at Mashatile in spat over Expropriation Act

CAPE TOWN - Minister of Public Works Dean Mcpherson has stated that he does not report to Deputy President Paul Mashatile.
Mcpherson's remarks come after Mashatile suggested that Mcpherson should implement government policies or resign.

Earlier this week, Mcpherson expressed his disapproval on social media regarding President Cyril Ramaphosa's signing of the Expropriation Act into law.
During a media briefing in Cape Town on Saturday, Mcpherson emphasised that he would not entertain comments that seek to undermine the Democratic Alliance (DA)’s efforts to ensure the success of the Government of National Unity (GNU).
"I'm not a lawyer, but I also know in law that you can't have contradicting sections in a law, because what does the court do in that instance? So, this is now bound for courts and just on that basis. So, I think it's unfortunate. I think an opportunity was missed to rectify."
