CAPE TOWN - Police have raided the offices of Cape Town Mayoral Committee Members, JP Smith and Xanthea Limberg.
This has been confirmed by Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis, who's requested an urgent briefing by police.
The mayor said he's been informed by Smith and Limberg that they've offered full cooperation to investigators, but have not been made aware of specific allegations at this stage.
Hill-Lewis said he needs a briefing from the SAPS to understand the details of the matter and to determine what further action is necessary.

Police have confirmed the probe is related to further investigations into tender fraud in the construction sector.
They said the raid is part of forensic investigations linked to a case that's already before the courts and implicates municipal officials and business owners.
Police said it's not yet clear whether Friday's action by the commercial crimes detective team will lead to more arrests.
