SADTU provincial secretary, Sibongile Kwazi, was at the scene earlier and called for police visibility around schools.
"And it actually confirms what we have always said that schools are the microcosm of the society we live in. If we live in a violent society, it will spill over to the school."
Kwazi added that nothing could've prevented the shooting as it took place outside the school premises.
