JOHANNESBURG - Following its announcement of permanent leadership structures in Gauteng and Limpopo, the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party says all other structures in both provinces have been dissolved.

The one-year-old party has largely been operating with temporary task teams since its inception.

At a media briefing on Thursday, the party said its national officials had appointed leadership structures in Gauteng and Limpopo.

Since its formation, the uMkhonto weSizwe Party has been plagued by in-fighting.

Since its impressive election debut, where it got the third-most votes in the country, the jostling for positions has intensified.

The party’s secretary-general, Floyd Shivambu, said that decisions by the national officials were final.

"We call for maximum discipline in all structures of uMkhonto weSizwe. No one is permitted to constitute a parallel structure of process other than what is mandated by the organisation. We will decisively act against all elements that seeks to defy the position of upper structures."

The MK Party will on Friday announce a leadership structure to run its stronghold province, KwaZulu-Natal.
