KZN police probing murder of senior PRASA official

CAPE TOWN - Police in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) are probing the murder of a Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) senior official who was shot dead in a drive-by shooting on Wednesday night.
Mothobi Jacob Khoaele, PRASA’s infrastructure manager in KZN was found dead in his vehicle after being shot several times in La Lucia, north of Durban.
Paramedics responded to the scene shortly after 7pm.
Khoaele, PRASA’s KZN infrastructure manager, was a senior official who was in charge of all the rail agency’s infrastructure projects in the province.
Khoaele was found dead in his double-cab Ford Ranger on Shellbourne Road in La Lucia.
The 53-year-old sustained multiple gunshot wounds from what appears to have been a drive-by shooting.
Garrith Jamieson of ALS paramedics said they responded to the scene at about 7:30 pm.
"Paramedics were shown to where a bakkie was found in the roadway which had sustained multiple gunshot holes in the door and front of the vehicle. Paramedics found the driver a male believed to be in his thirties had sustained multiple gunshot wound to his body. Unfortunately, there was nothing paramedics could do for him and he was declared deceased on the scene."
Police are investigating a case of murder.
