Consumer Price Inflation edged higher in Dec to 3%, reveals Stats SA

22 January 2025 | 9:13Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) released the latest figures on Wednesday morning, including the average inflation for last year which came at 4.4%.
JOHANNESBURG - South Africa's consumer price inflation (CPI) has increased for a second consecutive month.
It rose to 3% in December from 2.9% in November last year.

Stats SA’s chief director Patrick Kelly: "Inflation for food and non-alcoholic beverages ticked up to 2.5% from 2.3% in November. Annual price increases for bread and cereal products was steady at 3.7%. Although prices dropped by 0.2% between November and December, the number of wheat-based products showed monthly declines - including brown bread."
