Capetonians warned to brace for heatwave in coming days

CAPE TOWN - The South African Weather Service (SAWS) says residents in Cape Town should stay out of the sun in the coming days.
It’s issued a warning of extremely hot and uncomfortable weather.
SAWS advised people to take necessary precautions like carrying a wet cloth to wipe one’s face, and if possible, to submerge your feet in cold water to help regulate blood flow.

City of Cape Town's Disaster Risk Management spokesperson, Charlotte Powell, suggested it would be ideal to move any physical activities to earlier or later in the day.
"The public is advised to please heed the following advice: Drink plenty of water and seek relief in public spaces such as shopping malls and libraries."
She added that wearing light and loose clothing is a good idea.
"Take action at the first sign of heat-related illnesses like muscle cramps, heavy sweating, nausea, vomiting and dizziness. Seek emergency medical assistance immediately."
