Amy MacIver speaks with Dr Daniel Cunnama, Science Engagement Astronomer at the South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO).

Astronomers and space enthusiasts are in for a treat next month as we can expect a rare planetary parade.

This celestial event will see Mercury joining Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune in an arc-like formation.

This alignment will give people an opportunity to see multiple planets at once, but the difference will not necessarily be visible to the naked eye.

Cunnama says this is an interesting event, especially for those who love the night sky.

“It is very cool and a very nice thing to be able to talk about.”
