Just 11 days later, on 12 December, two more firefighters helped bring a healthy baby girl into the world.
The station’s streak continued into the new year.
On 17 January, an expectant mother arrived at Mfuleni Fire Station at 1.35 pm, and just 20 minutes later, with the support of the firefighters on duty, she gave birth to her baby.
Both mother and child were safely transported to Khayelitsha Day Hospital by ambulance.
"Mfuleni Fire Station is a go-to for many residents in distress, and so it is wonderful to see how staff excel time and again to save lives, but also help bring new life into the world. I would like to congratulate the firefighters for their swift response. It is a moment to be proud of and to cherish – our best wishes to the mother and her newborn. We are grateful that there were no complications and that everything went well."
