JOHANNESBURG - A Germiston man who killed both his parents and younger sister has submitted a guilty plea in court.

Eugene Botha killed his mother, Marrie, his sister, Soné, and father, Johannes, at their Rondebult home on New Year’s Day in 2024.

Botha wrapped their bodies and dumped them at a nearby field, however, he was later caught by police.

He is due to appear at the Johannesburg High Court on Tuesday.

Botha's guilty plea details how in a violent fit of rage he killed his mother, sister and father within minutes of each other.

He said on 31 December 2023, he was at home to usher in the New Year with his family when he had a lot to drink.

Shortly after midnight, Eugene said that he got into an argument with his mother and she asked him to move out of the house.

Eugene, a 43-year-old unemployed man, said he lost his temper and hit his mother with a hammer several times on the head.

Eugene then called his sister to his bedroom before striking her too with the hammer to the back of her head.

He said that he then took his father’s legal gun and shot him in the head with it.
