JOHANNESBURG - The Judicial Conduct Tribunal has heard how High Court secretary Andiswa Mengo dismissed Eastern Cape Judge president Selby Mbenenge's sexual advances.

In a message to the senior judge on WhatsApp, Mengo said she warned the judge to stop after he had sent a series of crude and explicit images to the junior staffer.

Infuriated, Mengo says she lashed out at the judge for failing to heed her calls and ignoring her when she said no.

The secretary also uploaded some of the conversations she had with the judge on her WhatsApp status in an attempt to expose the jurist.

Mengo testified before the tribunal tasked with investigating her claims after she alleged that the top judge made unwanted sexual advances towards her between 2021 and 2022.

Her message to the judge was read out before the panel by an interpreter, Aubrey Jonase.

"Please, I am not like the others. I respect myself so can you for one respect me before I lose it or before I go crazy. You make me to lose my respect with what you are doing. You are an elder for that matter."
