JOHANNESBURG - Eugene Botha has been convicted for the murder of his parents and younger sister.

On the first of January 2024, Botha killed his mother, Marrie, his sister, Soné, and father, Johannes, at their Rondebult home.

After killing them, he wrapped their bodies in blankets and dumped them at a nearby field, however, he was later apprehended by police.

Botha appeared at the Johannesburg High Court on Tuesday.

He has entered into a guilty plea and has admitted he killed his mother and sister by hitting them several times on their heads with a hammer.

Botha also told the court he stole his father's gun and used it to kill him.

Judge Gcina Malindi has convicted him on three counts of murder, one of defeating the ends of justice and one of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
