Prosecution to oppose bail for Cape Town cop linked to rape incident in court holding cells

CAPE TOWN - The prosecution says it will oppose bail for a Cape Town policeman linked to a rape incident at the Blue Downs Magistrates Court holding cells.
Thirty-five-year-old Constable Naveron Jacobs is a court orderly at the same court.

He's accused of raping a female inmate who appeared there last week Tuesday.
He was arrested a few days later following a probe by police watchdog IPID.
"The State intends to oppose the accused’s bail application for bail due to the seriousness of the offences he committed. Also, he committed them while he was in his professional capacity dealing with an inmate" said the NPA's Eric Ntabazalila.
