JOHANNESBURG - The former Speaker of Parliament, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, will have another bite at trying to have the State hand over more documents in her corruption case on Monday.

Mapisa-Nqakula has filed an application seeking sections B and C of her police docket.

These documents contain the investigation diary and correspondence of the investigating officers.

The opposed application will be heard at the Pretoria High Court.

The last time this application was in court, the State requested more time to build its opposing argument.

State prosecutor Bheki Manyathi said the defence filed voluminous heads of argument.

The defence’s heads of argument said the State is withholding critical information that could exonerate Mapisa-Nqakula.

The defence also raised issues with the evidence-gathering process and believes the investigation diary will shed more light on its claims.

On the other hand, the State said the information requested is confidential and will not be used during the trial.
