JOHANNESBURG - The Protea Magistrates Court has granted the media permission to broadcast proceedings of popular traditional healer, Makhotso Mofokeng, better known as Gogo Maweni.

She appeared in a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm dating back to 2019.

The courtroom was full, and Mofokeng's family members sat on one side, looking anxious.

Mofokeng entered the dock looking relaxed.

However, before the matter could be heard, her attorney Marcia Makuse argued that the media should not broadcast this matter.

Magistrate Rozelle Khaye dismissed this application and allowed the media to record and film the proceedings.

She then remanded the matter for a bail application.

"Your matter is postponed until next week Monday 27 January 2025 for formal bail application until then you will be in custody, no bail."

Mofokeng showed no reaction to this as she walked out of court.
