JOHANNESBURG - As talks continue on whether the African National Congress (ANC) will disband its Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal structures, the party said it cannot be business as usual in the two provinces.
The ANC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) is meeting for its second day of talks at the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg on Sunday.

Its national leadership is contemplating what to do about the two provinces, which performed poorly at the recent general elections.
The ANC’s NEC had three possible outcomes in front of it: completely dissolve the Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal structures, send in additional enforcements, or leave them as they are.
ANC national spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri said, however, that leaving the structures as they are is no longer an option.
“Why it is no longer an option is because there is an acknowledgment that there are serious organisational, political, and service delivery weaknesses that have got to be tackled head-on, and therefore we had to look at the two options.”
Bhengu-Motsiri said the party’s leadership will resolve on a decision on Sunday night.
