JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) has called on Israel and Hamas to respect the conditions of the ceasefire deal.
Sunday is expected to be the beginning of a negotiated six-week ceasefire between the two warring groups.

Among other things, the terms of the ceasefire require both groups to stop all fighting, exchange hostages, and for Israel to allow humanitarian aid to flow into Palestine.
The ANC said the ceasefire will not stop the South African government’s continued fight at The Hague to have Israel charged with committing genocide against Palestinians.
ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula said the party welcomes the cessation of fighting.
“We stand here today, once more in solidarity with the Palestinian people. May the developments of the ceasefire propel us to realise a long-lasting solution, which is the self-determination of the Palestinian people.”
