Over 20 child porn-related sexual predators arrested in SA over last 2 years

JOHANNESBURG - In the last two years, more than 20 sexual predators related to child pornography in the country have been arrested.  

On Friday, a 35-year-old man was apprehended for the suspected possession of drugs and the downloading and distribution of child pornography.  

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Amanda van Wyk said they found an estimated 10 million child pornography images and videos on numerous electronic devices.

She added that after forensic investigations, they believe the suspect distributed this illegal material on a global scale.  

“A large amount of cash, believed to be the proceeds of crime, was also seized. The arrest emanates from information that was shared by international law enforcement with the SAPS after they had identified a target located in South Africa.”
