Thanti Mthanti resigns as MK Party treasurer-general a month after his appointment
Mthanti took up the position in December last year, to shore up the finances of the country’s third most supported party.

JOHANNESBURG - Thanti Mthanti has resigned as treasurer-general for the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, one month after he was appointed to the position.
He took up the position in December last year, to shore up the finances of the country’s third most supported party.
Mthanti is a senior lecturer at the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business and holds a PhD in finance from Wits University.
The MK Party says Mthanti resigned to focus on his personal and other professional commitments.

Party spokesperson, Sipho Tyira, said the organisation had already begun the search for his successor.
"On behalf of the leadership and members of the party, president [Jacob] Zuma would like to extend his deepest appreciation to Dr. Mthanti for his contribution. His offer to assist in ensuring a seamless transition speaks volumes about his dedication to the continued success of the party. He will remain a valued member of the national high command as the president continues to assign him various advisory tasks, including helping to set up financial control systems."
