JOHANNESBURG - Political parties in the Johannesburg council have extended their best wishes to the metro’s newly appointed acting city manager, Tshepo Makola.
Earlier on Friday, the council officially confirmed Makola’s appointment to act in the role, while the city begins the recruitment process of a permanent candidate for the position.
This follows the Johannesburg High Court’s ruling in December, removing Floyd Brink from the position, citing that his appointment was irregular.
African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) councillor, Ronald Harris, expressed confidence in Makola’s leadership as acting city manager.
"The ACPD wishes Mr Makola strength and courage in accepting this critical appointment. May this tenure be blessed and free of scandal and if you are competing for the permanent post, we wish you all the best."
African National Councillor (ANC) councillor, Teffo Raphadu, echoed these sentiments.
"There is hope for a brighter future in the city of Johannesburg. That is why as the ANC, we support the appointment of Mr Makola as the acting City Manager of the city of Johannesburg."
