CAPE TOWN - Two alleged hitmen accused of killing controversial Cape Town businessman Mark Lifman have been denied bail.
The underworld figure with links to alleged gang leaders was shot and killed in the parking lot of the Garden Route Mall in George in November.
Johan Hendrik Jacobs and Gert Bezuidenhout returned to the George Magistrates Court on Friday.
Arguing for bail, Jacobs and Bezuidenhout accused the police of abuse.
However, the evidence was not compelling enough for the George Magistrates Court, which ruled it was not in the interest of justice to grant them bail.
The court also found that the State had a compelling case against the accused.
The prosecution has asked for more time to analyse phone records and other data.
The matter was postponed to 20 February for further investigation.
