The recent rainfall in Gauteng had had a positive impact on water storage levels.
The water storage at the Vaal Dam has jumped from 24.3% last week to 50.53%.

The Dam has been on a downward spiral for months before this rainfall.
The Department of Water and Sanitation had been making plans to release water from the Sterkfontein Dam into the Vaal Dam if levels dropped to 18%.
Thanks to the heavy rain, this plan is no longer necessary.
