JOHANNESBURG - Eastern Cape Judge President Selby Mbenenge allegedly persisted with unwelcomed sexual advances towards a junior staffer in his division even after she explicitly rejected him.

Andiswa Mengo said that she finally summoned the courage to dismiss the senior judge, to no avail.

Mengo on Thursday delivered testimony before the judicial tribunal tasked with investigating the sexual harassment allegations she has levelled against Mbenenge.

The tribunal is combing through the exchanges that took place between the pair for a period of 15 months.

Mengo was probed by evidence leader, advocate Salome Scheepers, on what took place after she outrightly rejected the top judge.

"Did the conversation stop after you said 'no?'"

Mengo said that the judge president was persistent and pointed her back to previous conversations, something she said she did not appreciate.

"I was very much annoyed."
