JOHANNESBURG - Andiswa Mengo, the woman who has laid a sexual harassment complaint against a senior judge, is sticking by the submissions she made on Tuesday.

Mengo faced many questions on Tuesday following her testimony before the judicial tribunal investigating her alleged perpetrator.

Eastern Cape Judge President Selby Mbenenge is being investigated at the hearing in Rosebank, Johannesburg.

He is facing allegations of sexual harassment when Mengo was a secretary in his division of the high court between 2021 and 2022.

On Tuesday, Mengo made mention of the suggestive texts she received from the top judge in 2021.

However, Mbenenge asked her about warmth and whether she melts easily, Mengo responded by saying it depended on the oven temperature.

Mengo insists that she was referring to the cooking she was doing at the time and did this to deter the judge from continuing with the alleged sexual advances.

This response confused the tribunal, as evidence leader, advocate Salome Scheepers explains.

"Now this is where the confusion is. Why did you reply by saying something that you were doing on something of another nature?"

When probed on whether she was speaking in parables, Mengo said she was not.
