JOHANNESBURG - The judicial tribunal probing sexual harassment allegations against Eastern Cape Judge President Selby Mbenenge has heard that he allegedly sent photos of his private parts to a junior staffer, Andiswa Mengo.

Mbenenge, however, denies the claims.

The messages detail how the senior judge kept reminding Mengo to delete them.

Mengo is testifying before the tribunal tasked with investigating her claims after she laid a complaint in 2023.

High Court secretary Mengo testified before the tribunal that Mbenenge sent her explicit content through social media platform, Whatsapp.

"It was his private part with hair exactly the same colour as his head. And in the picture, it was clear that he was standing above the toilet cubicle."

The top judge deleted the messages but not before his junior saw them.

Mengo added that the judge’s face, however, did not show in the photo he sent.

Below the image was another message as read out by evidence leader, advocate Salom Scheepers.

"But I see at the same time stamp 21:32, there was another message following that with the letters BJ."

Mengo said she understood this to be the judge’s expression of a desire for oral sex.

She added that she did not respond to the message.
