JOHANNESBURG - Pupils at Braamfischerville Primary School in Soweto have arrived for the first day of school.
Children starting grade 1 are navigating their new environment, which will be a new normal for the coming years.
Some returning to the school have been reunited with their friends as they look forward to a new school year.

Meanwhile, Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane is expected to visit the school.
He will also address the critical issue of learner placements for grades 1 and 8, providing an update on how the department is handling the backlog and ensuring that every child has a seat in the classroom.
